Here are some details about our wedding:
Theme: Raymond and I are both country folks with hillbilly families. (I say that with love.) So, Ray and I decided we wanted a country themed wedding. To tye into that, we decided...
Location: to hold the ceremony and reception at the Houston Farm and Ranch Club in West Houston.
Timing: We were married on May 30th, 2009. We origianlly were going to start the ceremony at 4:30pm, but I started to think that we should move it back an hour so we were married on 5-30 at 5:30pm. It worked out perfect!
Attire: I bought my wedding dress almost one year to the date. I saw the dress online at David's Bridal, tried it on in person, and decided that was it. I did not have to look any further. The guys wore black jeans with a western style tux, ivory shirts (since my dress was ivory and champagne), marine colored vest (Raymond wore champage), a bowlow, black hats, black boots, and black belts with belt buckels. Raymond's tux was long, as the groomsmen were short. My girls wore marine colored dresses, pearl necklesses with a star shaped pendant, and cowgirl boots.
Ceremony: The ceremony was held outsite in the gazebo. As far as decorations went, I had made some yellow rose, white daisy, and blue delphineum garlands. We attached the garland around the hand rails of the gazebo with ivory tulle. Our unity candle was sitting on the hand rail in the back of the gazebo. (I also had made the unity candles by attaching pearl accent beads, as well as pearl lettering spelling out Emily and Raymond.)
Reception: The reception was held inside the hall. The tables were decorated with black linens and red bandana print overlays. Natural wooden chairs with padding. The centerpieces were hand made by Raymond. We went to Trader's Village and found western iron work which Raymond welded together to form a candle holder.
Flowers: Our flowers were yellow roses, ivory and pale yellow gerber daisys, and blue bonnents. I had artificial flowers that everyone thought was real because they looked and felt real. My florist is an awesome lady who has been in business for over 20yrs. She has done my wedding as well as my cousin's and all the flowers in both weddings were so beautiful. Infact, my grandfather's and grandmother's pin ons fooled my grandfather so much, that the day after my wedding, my cousin went to their house and asked where the flowers were. He said they were in the refriderator since they would last longer in there. She laughed and said they were fake! He could not believe he could not tell the difference!
Cake: The baker was Yellow Rose Bakery. They did an awesone job on the cakes, as you can see. I also bought the cake topper, and added some embelishments to make it ours. On our cake table were personalised napkins that Raymond's mom's friend made for us. He has his own printing company, so we bought the napkins, and he gave us the printing for free as a gift.
Food: We had Demeris BBQ caterer our wedding. Raymond's family have been friends with the owner for many years, and the food was great! We have three meats, three sides, tea, lemonade, and all the fixins.
Drinks: We ordered two kegs, brought in our own wine and champagne, while everyone else brought in their own liquor.
Photographer: I have been apart of Girl Scouts for years, volunteering for many events in my community, as well as being a Girl Scout for about 15yrs now. We have used this one photographer for many of our events, and she has also done many senior photos and even a wedding for one of my Girl Scout friends, so we decided to use her.
DJ: Ray and I have known our DJ personally since as long as we can remember. Both of us has grown up with him and his family for years, we all went to the same schools, so we called on him with our special day.
Minister: Our minister is a friend of Raymond's mom. He was actually told by his doctor the day before our wedding that he needed to go into the hospital for testing on his heart. But he said not until he performed our wedding. He is doing well right now, and we are all praying for the best for him.
Guests: We invited over 300 people, and a good over 200 showed up for the ceremony and reception. We thank everyone for coming out and enjoying our special day.
Limo: I really wanted the bridal party to be brought in on a wagon, but we could not find two, so I forgot about that idea. So my mom surprised me and all the girls by renting a stretch excursion to haul us to the Ranch. (See, Raymond is a Ford man, he has been a ford machanic for about six years, but luckly he has moved onto a better career with a different company, but his heart still lies for Ford.)
Honeymoon: We went to Galveston the following day and spent one night at the San Luis hotel on the seawall. We had a blast: couples massage, bike riding along the seawall, writting our names in the sand, swimming in the pool, laying by the pool, room service, and best of all, the steakhouse dinner before we left. Everyone called us by our names, even if we've never seen them before then, they seemed to know who we were. It was so pleasant we are planning to return every year for our anniversary.
I don't believe I have left anything out, but you never know. Our day was very special, and very perfect. I love calling Raymond my husband, and you will think the same about your fiance when you get married. Hopefully this has given you some ideas about your wedding, or at least helped out in some way.
